Fatumo Farah is an inspiring Somali woman and the director of HIRDA (Himilo Relief and Development Association).
The organization was founded by Somali diaspora and is now one of the biggest diaspora organizations in the Netherlands. Because of this they are often in contact with IOM Netherlands’ CD4D project which focuses on diaspora engagement. Furthermore, IOM supported a number of HIRDA members to do assignments in Somalia and contribute to the capacity building of the local HIRDA organizations. The word ‘himilo’ means vision in Somali; in this interview Fatumo Farah explains what drives her and what are her hopes for the future.
