Family Reunification also affected by COVID-19 (Corona Virus) measures

As a result of the Covid-19 related travel restrictions, IOM’s ability to assist in Family Reunification is currently assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Kick-off Family Reunification Campaign UNHCR and Ben & Jerry’s

Refugee families must be able to be reunited more quickly and safely. With this message UNHCR the Netherlands and Ben and Jerry’s have started a campaign aimed at Family Reunifications. During the online kick-off, experts, lawyers, policy officers and refugees gave their views on the current Dutch family reunification policy.

Resettlement of Refugees is Resumed

On 18 June, IOM and UNHCR announced that the worldwide suspension on Resettlement movements is to be lifted. This brings an end to a period of halted movements as IOM took steps in March to temporarily suspend resettlement departures for refugees in line with governments’ requests and in response to restrictions around international air travel introduced due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
