Antonio Polosa Departs as Chief of Mission of IOM in the Netherlands; Fabien Sambussy to Succeed

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) announces the imminent departure of Mr. Antonio Polosa, the current Chief of Mission in the Netherlands. After a distinguished career spanning 31 years with IOM, including six years of service in the Netherlands, Mr. Polosa will retire.

Mr. Polosa has been instrumental in advancing IOM’s mission in the Netherlands, addressing critical migration issues, and fostering strong relationships with local and international stakeholders. His leadership and dedication have left an indelible mark on the organization and the communities it serves.

In his place, IOM is proud to appoint Mr. Fabien Sambussy as the new Chief of Mission in the Netherlands. Sambussy brings a wealth of experience gained in previous roles within IOM and other related organizations. He has previously been deployed to Sudan, South Sudan, Haiti, the Central African Republic, Iraq and twice to the Democratic Republic of Congo. He has previously worked for several international NGOs and with the Red Cross. Throughout his career, Mr. Sambussy has gained extensive experience in migration management, humanitarian aid, stabilization, migration and health, diaspora engagement and anti-trafficking in human beings.

Mr. Sambussy will officially commence his tenure today on October 1st. The organization looks forward to his leadership and the fresh perspectives he will bring to continue the vital work of IOM in the Netherlands.

IOM expresses its deepest gratitude to Mr. Polosa for his outstanding service and wishes him the best in his retirement. The organization equally extends a warm welcome to Mr. Sambussy, anticipating a fruitful and impactful tenure.
