IOM the Netherlands and DT&V officially renew collaboration on Voluntary Return Programme

The Hague, 09/10/2024- The International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Dutch Repatriation and Departure Service (DT&V) have announced the official renewal of their long-standing collaboration to support the voluntary return of migrants (REAN) from the Netherlands today. This partnership, which has been active since 1992, continues to provide migrants with the opportunity to return to their home countries safely, voluntarily, and with dignity.

The renewed agreement emphasizes both organizations’ shared commitment to humane migration management. The voluntary return programme offers support to migrants who wish to return to their country of origin, providing them with practical assistance, such as travel arrangements, reintegration support, and individualized counselling. This helps ensure the return process is sustainable and in line with international human rights standards.

The collaboration between IOM and the Dutch Repatriation and Departure Service underscores the importance of voluntary return as a crucial component of responsible migration management. Through this partnership, IOM and DTenV aim to foster a humane approach to migration that prioritizes the rights and dignity of individuals while also creating sustainable solutions.

The partnership also reaffirms the Dutch government’s commitment to working with international organizations to manage migration challenges effectively. By facilitating voluntary return, the programme aims to ease the pressure on asylum systems while giving migrants the option to return home with support for a new start.

Since 1992, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in the Netherlands has facilitated the voluntary return of over 60,000 migrants to their countries of origin.
