Reduced Activity IOM at Schiphol Airport

Since the COVID 19 outbreak, Schiphol Airport reduced its operations to only core activities with a reduced capacity such as closed passport controls in departures 1, 3 and 4, as well as the check-in desks in Departures 1. Since the mid of March, IOM the Netherlands had to cancel 85 % of the scheduled flights for AVR due to airlines cancelling and other restrictions imposed by partner Governments. In addition, receiving or transit countries increasingly imposed additional restrictions, as a result of which voluntary return became very limited.

Within all the above restrictions, IOM has been able to support migrants with voluntary return to Indonesia and Brazil.
